Sampling - Doug Roseman - Skid Cars

Once the Drive train was sorted and running I turned my focus to the cars, on the real thing three swiveling casters carry the car around the platform, a brake pedal is applied and the car swings round bouncing of a wire rope either side attached to the cheese wheel. Some of these parts are too complex to robustly make from the materials available to me. Therefore I will use two fixed castors mounted under an acrylic base with a card top.
The Castors for the cars, laser cut from 2.5mm acrylic

The car bodies built up from laser cut parts, the base acrylic, the former card and the car sides thick paper.

All the cars mounted on the cheese wheel

The decorative artwork being applied to the cars. How the artwork is made features later.
